A wildcard Wednesday night is in the mix as Anton O’Donnell calls by to sing up-close for us, where, as our regulars will know, anything can happen! Come and join us for an ice-tea, glass of wine or a beer, and just let yourself be entertained by this dedicated, enlivening, and music- loving touring musician!
Glasgow based songwriter, Anton has brought his music to Texas, Rome, Nashville, Paris, New Orleans to London and back home again. Living proof that success does not necessarily mean compromise, Anton has taken the music he loves – blues, country, folk, rock n roll – and shaped them into a potent, fresh, yet reassuringly familiar brew.
Blessed with a smoky, whisky-soaked voice redolent of the great soul singers of Stax & Muscle Shoals, and armed with just an acoustic guitar & harmonica, Anton adds incisive lyrics to sweet melodies to create something that can reduce a rowdy bar to awed silence or rouse the most sedate venue to fever pitch.
When done right, some songs can take the roof off the place. Others can silence it with pure heartfelt emotion. Mixing the two, from the raucous venue to the most intimate of spaces, or on the same record, is another musical sphere entirely. It’s hard to get right, let alone as consistently and successfully as Anton O’Donnell has. With incomparable balladry, and a world renowned articulation of all things Americana and beyond, the Glasgow based songwriter and musician always delivers this most elusive kind of musicality and stagecraft.

Arrival: There is on-street parking on Kornstrasse. Or catch Bus no.3 from Wettingen or Baden train station, direction: “Brunnenwiese”. We are a 2-minute walk from the Bus Stop “Schönenbühlstrasse”.
